Daily Friendship with God #27 Angels and Demons

In this Daily friendship with God it will be mostly comprised of scriptures with only a few notes. God has much to say in His word and we are sure that you will learn much about angels and demons by reading and talking to God about what He has said. 

 

One key thing to understand is if you are in relationship with God based on your faith in Jesus as your Lord and savior you are protected by God and His angels from demons and have authority over them. As you stay in close relationship with God He will give you insight in everyday life as to what part both angels and demons play in this world. Do not be afraid of demons they feed on fear but rather be strong in faith and they will run from you. 

 

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

 

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.(Gen 3:1) 

 

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:9)

 

Genesis 3 and Revelation 12 make it clear that the Devil and Satan is the serpent that was in the garden of Eden. Genesis 3 shows how he deceived Eve and how that effected and infected the whole earth as Adam her husband joined her. Most all scholars agree that Lucifer is another name for Satan and the Devil and in Isaiah 14 and in Ezekiel 28 he is an angel that fell from Heaven to earth with angels that followed him. This understanding makes him the demonic leader of all demons which are known as principalities, rulers and powers in the new testament in Romans 8:38, Ephesians 3:10, Colossians 1:16 and 2:15.    

 

ANGELS

 

Do not forget to entertain(be hospitable towards) strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. (Hebrews 13:2)

 

Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.(Genesis 19:1)

 

But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”(Gen 22:11)

 

He cast on them the fierceness of His anger, Wrath, indignation, and trouble, By sending angels of destruction among them. (Psalm 78:49)

 

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.  (Psalm 91:11)

 

Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. (Psalm 103:20)

 

Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire. (Psalm 104:4)

 

But while he thought about these things, behold, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:20)

 

Then the devil left Him(Jesus), and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matthew 4:11)

 

This is where we get the idea of a garden angels as well as Psalm 91:11

“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. Mat 18:10 -

 

 “So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, (Matthew 13:49)

 

And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. (Matthew 28:2)

 

God used an angel in the activity of healing and moved things in the physical world. This means angels are have the ability to interact with us. 

For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. (John 5:4)

 

And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. (John 20:12)

 

Again, an angel moved things in the physical world. 

But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said (Act 5:19)

 

Angels can be seen in visions

About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” (Act 10:3)

 

Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? (1 Corinthians  6:3)

 

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. (1 Corinthians 13:1)

 

We are not to worship angels 

Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not  seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, (Colossians  2:18)

 

As servants of God they will be used by God to bring Gods wrath on the earth. 

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)

 

Demons

 

They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons, (psalm 106:37)

 

People can have multiple demons with in them.  

Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. (Mark 16:9)

 

Jesus said those that are His followers will cast out demons (not be on defense but offence) “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; (Mark 16:17)

 

Casting out demons are not proof that you have a relationship with God.

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:22-23)

 

The word of God in your mouth is as powerful as the in Jesus mouth. 

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, (Matthew 8:16)

 

Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. (Matthew 12:22)

 

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” (Luke 10:17)

 

Demon possession is a biblical truth. 

And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” (Matthew 15:22)


Jesus rebuked demons and they came out of people.

And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.­­­ (Matthew 17:18)

 

For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness. (Luke 8:29)

 

Angels sinned and were cast down to hell where they are being held for Judgment.

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; (2 Peter 2:4)

 

And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; (Jude 1:6)

 

For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14)

 

Angels are on assignment to provoke people to pervert the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)

 

There are deceiving spirit that are teaching demonic ways today.

Now the (Holy) Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, (1 Timothy 4:1)

 

Demons can perform signs (miracles and wonders) 

For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. (Revelation 16:14)
