Daily Friendship with God #31 The Return of Jesus
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. (Matthew 16:24)
This is another Daily Friendship with God that the scriptures alone make it clear as to what God has to say about the return of Jesus Christ to earth. What it does not make clear is when. One thing for sure is God’s timing is perfect. The day of the LORD’S return is great and very terrible according to Joel 2:11. It will be great for those that personally know God and have a relationship with Him based on the gospel of Jesus Christ death for their sins, His burial and their personal confession that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Jesus from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 10:9-13). It will be a very terrible day for those that have rejected God’s offer of the gospel and eternal life which comes by having a relationship with God.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11)
and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. (Thessalonians 1:10)

Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. (Revelation 1:7)

knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” (2 Peter 3:3-4)
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; (Philippians 3:20)

(“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”) (Revelation 16:15)

For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. (1 Thessalonians 5:2)
So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. (Revelation 3:3)
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God. (1 Corinthians 4:5)
"But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;

since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know (have a personal relationship with) God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus (2 Thessalonians 1:6-8)

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. (Hebrews 9:28)
It is clear to see that Jesus is coming to the earth again. When He does it will be a blessing to those that are in relationship with Him and are looking forward to His coming. Sadly there are many that do not know God and about what is going to happen when He returns to the earth. For those that do know God and about Jesus second coming we have the blessing of sharing with those who do not know. We can share about what Jesus accomplished in His first coming. How He died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead in order to set us free from sin and death. After reading about the second coming of Christ talk to God and ask Him to reveal to you how to communicate the goodness and the severity of God in His first and second coming.
